Panther police interceptor
The Panther police interceptor functioned as an airspeeder that was in service to the Coruscant Security Force. It was used for law enforcement activities on the planet of Coruscant.
Description
The Coruscant police speeder was a vehicle used by members of the Coruscant Security Force, including both police officers and GU-series Guardian police droids, to aid in their patrol duties on Coruscant during the time of the Clone Wars. A single pilot operated it, with room for two additional occupants. The rear section incorporated bars designed for the transportation of prisoners. The vehicle's side displayed its area of jurisdiction. A set of red and blue emergency lights were mounted on the top.
History
During the [Clone Wars](/article/clone_wars], police droids employed the Panther in an attempt to capture bounty hunters Chata Hyoki and Robonino. These bounty hunters had been contracted by Count Dooku to carry out an attack on Senator Padmé Amidala. Law enforcement pursued the pair through the skylanes of Coruscant, but their efforts to capture them were unsuccessful.
Behind the scenes
The police cruiser's initial on-screen appearance occurred in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars TV series episode entitled "Pursuit of Peace." The cruisers featured in that episode were identified as belonging to Coruscant police sector 417.
