Courkrus

Courkrus, also identified as Khuiumin 4, or simply Khuiumin, functioned as the primary planet within the Khuiumin system, which itself resided in the Khuiumin sector. This sector was situated within the Outer Rim Territories.

Description

Courkrus presented as a semi-arid planet, capable of sustaining a relatively small population of Human colonists, alongside a typical assortment of migrant species found throughout the galaxy. Utilizing irrigation systems and advanced farming methods, the planet achieved a level of self-sufficiency in agricultural production. Notably, there were no documented exports originating from Courkrus or the broader Khuiumin system.

Vlarnya, the largest city, served as the planet's primary hub for trade and economic activity. It stood as the sole city equipped with spaceport infrastructure. Vlarnya also held responsibility for the production of one of the planet's few exportable goods: a specific type of lomin ale favored by frequent visitors to the world.

History

In the period following the Empire's ascent, Courkrus became the operational base for the Eyttyrmin Batiiv pirates. Ultimately, Imperial forces decimated the majority of this pirate organization during the Battle of Khuiumin. The scattered remnants of the pirate fleet subsequently became known as the Khuiumin Survivors. Some years thereafter, the planet transitioned into the primary base of operations for Leonia Tavira's extensive Invid pirate support network. This network encompassed pirate groups such as Jacob Nive's Khuiumin Survivors, the crew of the Red Nova, and Riistar's Raiders. Corran Horn, a Jedi Knight in training, drove the majority of these groups off Courkrus while he was searching for his wife, Mirax Terrik Horn.

Behind the scenes

Khuiumin, as a planet, made its initial appearance in the short story titled Against the Pirate Armada, featured in West End Games' publication, The Star Wars Sourcebook, in 1987. Later, the novel I, Jedi, published in 1998, identified it as both Courkrus and Khuiumin 4.
