Invids

The Invids were a band of pirates commanded by the former Moff Leonia Tavira.

History

A piratical organization, the Invids, were under the leadership of the one-time Moff Leonia Tavira. Their name was derived from their flagship vessel, the Imperial-class Star Destroyer named Invidious. While Tavira and the Invidious were the central figures of the organization, the main part of the group was composed of several smaller pirate groups that often operated independently but united for bigger targets or Tavira's goals. It is believed that one of these groups was what remained of Kavil's Corsairs, Tavira's previous pirate organization. The Khuiumin Survivors, Riistar's Raiders, the Blackstar Pirates, the crew of the Red Nova, the LazerLords, the crew of the Fastblast, and Shala the Hutt's gang were all known to be Invid groups. Those pirates who were brought aboard the Invidious were called "True Invids," and it was rumored that once someone joined the ship's crew, they could never leave. Furthermore, a number of Jensaarai warriors pledged their allegiance to the Invids. Near Alakatha in the K'vath system, the Invid ship Booty Full was ambushed by Rogue Squadron. The Booty Full had been in the process of attacking the Glitterstar, but was ultimately captured. During this engagement, the Invids utilized tri-fighter starfighters known as Clutches, which were similar to those employed during the Clone Wars.

After Mirax Terrik Horn was kidnapped, Corran Horn underwent training as a Jedi at Luke Skywalker's academy to acquire the skills necessary for her rescue. Subsequently, he infiltrated the Khuiumin Survivors on Courkrus, a planet located in the Khuiumin system that served as the base of operations for most of the Invid-affiliated gangs. Using the alias Jenos Idanian, he ascended through the Invid ranks to become second in command of the Survivors. He was able to cause many of the smaller pirate groups to scatter by exploiting their superstitious beliefs, convincing them that a "Ghost Jedi" was hunting them. His actions included a dramatic demonstration against Shala the Hutt, which culminated in a fiery pillar and an image of a giant Jedi looming over the Hutt pirate's headquarters.

Horn also learned that Tavira maintained the loyalty of the Jensaarai by threatening to exterminate their elders and children using her Star Destroyer. Working in conjunction with Luke Skywalker and, after the two freed Mirax, Horn managed to break Tavira's hold over them, forging a loose alliance between the Jensaarai and the Jedi. In 11 ABY, the group vanished, along with their leader and flagship, into unknown regions.
