Crix Sunburris

Crix Sunburris was a Jedi Master of the Human variety and male, renowned as an ace pilot within the Starfighter Corps of the Jedi Order. Stationed at the Jedi Temple located on Coruscant during the period leading up to the Ruusan Reformation, Sunburris made substantial contributions to the Order, notably initiating the Chu'unthor project. Furthermore, Sunburris authored several sections of The Jedi Path: A Manual for Students of the Force, the guidebook used at the Temple.

Biography

Like many Jedi of that time, Master Sunburris served the Order in the Army of Light during the campaigns against the Brotherhood of Darkness, conflicts known as the New Sith Wars. Having been a member of the Jedi Starfighter Corps for over two decades, Master Sunburris earned the titles of Warrior Master and Air Marshal of the Republic due to his wartime achievements, including the destruction of over 300 enemy starfighters. After the war, Master Sunburris improved the Order's fleet of ships and began traveling the galaxy, visiting the various satellite academies run by the Order.

Sunburris, always in peak physical condition, dedicated several hours daily to lightsaber cadences, unarmed combat training, and running. Due to his position in the Starfighter Corps, the leaders of the Exploration Corps frequently sought Sunburris's advice regarding their praxeum ships. Following the war, Sunburris sponsored a project intended to create a massive vessel (which he attempted to name after himself) for use in galactic exploration and travel. Sunburris, along with Masters Fin-So-Rowan and Ivixa Delbaeth, and his like-minded colleagues aimed to provide Jedi Knights and Padawans with greater exposure to galactic cultures than was available at the Jedi Temple. Although the project was not completed during his lifetime, it was eventually realized under the name Chu'unthor. When his fellow Masters proposed creating a guidebook for Jedi life, Master Sunburris agreed to contribute, writing several chapters on the work of the Guardians, galactic travel, and education on praxeum ships.

Personality and traits

Without a doubt, Sunburris was a superb lightsaber duellist and starfighter pilot. However, he tended to boast and readily promoted his own accomplishments. In his contributions to The Jedi Path, he was quick to mention his various titles and his feat of destroying over 300 starfighters during the New Sith Wars. When consulted on a project to develop a large, new praxeum ship, Sunburris initially tried to have the ship named after himself.

Behind the scenes

Daniel Wallace, the author of The Jedi Path: A Manual for Students of the Force, shared a list detailing the species and genders of each author of the in-universe The Jedi Path: A Manual for Students of the Force, although it was not included in the final version. Master Sunburris is identified as a Human male. Daniel Wallace characterized Sunburris as a braggart.
