The Jedi Path: A Manual for Students of the Force served as an instructional text. The Jedi Order published this guidebook for Jedi Initiates to familiarize themselves with the Order's doctrines and the practices associated with the Force.
Initiated in the decade following the Ruusan Reformation, the concept for this manual originated with Grand Master Fae Coven. She collaborated with other Jedi Masters to finalize the book and distribute it among students at the Order's academy. While author Coven was the main writer, numerous other Jedi enriched the book with details pertaining to their specific Jedi specializations. These Masters included Morrit Ch'gally, Bowspritz, Sabla-Mandibu, Restelly Quist, Crix Sunburris, Skarch Vaunk, and Gal-Stod Slagistrough.
By 115 BBY, the book's third edition had been released, incorporating minor revisions and factual updates. Over the subsequent one hundred standard years, a single copy of the book was handed down through a lineage of Jedi, from Master to Padawan, commencing with Grand Master Yoda, who passed it to Thame Cerulian, followed by Dooku, Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Ahsoka Tano. This particular copy, rich with annotations from its various owners and filled with mementos accumulated over the years, survived the Great Jedi Purge and ultimately came into the possession of Dark Lord and Galactic Emperor Darth Sidious, who also added his own remarks. Following the Emperor's death in 11 ABY, Squib salvagers discovered the book near the remnants of Byss and entrusted it to Jedi Master Luke Skywalker. Skywalker utilized this resource, alongside various holocrons he had collected, to reconstruct the Jedi Order after its destruction by Sidious.
