Cron Drift

The Cron Drift represented a vast field of asteroids situated within the Auril sector of the Outer Rim. Its location was in proximity to the Perlemian Trade Route, the Cronese Mandate, and the Tion Cluster.

Description

This Drift was once a nebula known for its striking beauty and dynamic nature. However, during the Great Sith War, a Sith-engineered device, designed to manipulate the core elements of stars, triggered the explosion of the neighboring Cron Cluster stellar group. This cataclysmic event obliterated nearby planets and resulted in the formation of the asteroid field. The Cron Drift became infamous as a haven for illicit activities, including piracy, looting, and the smuggling of prohibited goods.

History

Old Republic

In 3996 BBY, Aleema Keto employed Sith magic in conjunction with the ancient vessel Corsair to obliterate the nebula then known as the Cron Cluster, thereby birthing the Cron Drift. The ensuing Cron Supernova pulverized all planetary bodies in the vicinity, scattering their remnants across the region. Dalos IV, Belderone, Kulthis, Ossus, and Nespis VIII were nearest to the blast and heavily impacted by the detonation.

Rise of the Empire

Prior to the Invasion of Naboo, the Force-sensitive Umbaran Sly Moore was captured by Darth Maul and held prisoner within a tomb located within the Cron Drift. Ancient Sith spirits tormented her as a trial before Darth Sidious rescued her.

Han Solo and Chewbacca attempted a clotheslegging operation in the Cron Drift around 2 BBY.

Galactic Civil War

The Rebel communications outpost designated AX-235 was established within the Cron Drift during the war. During a rendezvous involving the Delta-class DX-9 stormtrooper transport Magnus, the BFF-1 bulk freighter Ojai, and the CR90 corvette Jeffrey, which were delivering supplies and purloined Imperial communications satellites to the outpost, an Imperial force comprised of four Imperial DX-9s, accompanied by assault gunboats, launched an assault on the outpost. X-wings piloted by Keyan Farlander and Puck Naeco defeated the Imperials, facilitating the successful transfer of the goods. The satellites later proved vital in uncovering the Death Star project.

Behind the scenes

A galactic chart showing the various destinations offered by the Star Tours travel agency can be observed in the queue area of the Star Tours attraction found at both Disneyland Paris and Tokyo Disneyland. This map erroneously places Yavin 4 within the Cron Drift, a notion contradicted by numerous Legends sources.
