D-89, a Ferret-class reconnaissance vessel belonging to New Republic Intelligence, served as a tail for the Teljkon Vagabond task force led by Colonel Pakkpekkat. Its mission was to follow the Vagabond as an interdiction line was being set up. Once the line was secured, D-89 ventured inside the twelve-kilometer safety perimeter. Following the landing of Lady Luck on the Vagabond, which was facilitated by C-3PO's access code, D-89 was dispatched to utilize the same code. Despite the code being transmitted correctly, the vessel, anticipating a new code, eliminated the Ferret.
