In the year 11 ABY, Admiral Natasi Daala, a defiant Imperial warlord, launched a military campaign directed at the New Republic. After emerging from years of isolation within the Maw with her Maw fleet consisting of four Star Destroyers, she realized the Galactic Empire no longer reigned supreme. Consequently, she pledged to unleash devastation upon the New Republic, who she saw as the Empire's adversaries. Despite the instantaneous annihilation of the Star Destroyer Hydra by the stolen Sun Crusher superweapon, Daala's fury remained unchecked. She perpetrated genocide against the inhabitants of Eol Sha through an attacking of their vulnerable colony on the planet Dantooine. Subsequently, she led her fleet to Mon Calamari, a world belonging to the New Republic. During the ensuing battle, the Star Destroyer Manticore met its end, prompting Daala to retreat towards the Cauldron Nebula. There, Kyp Durron, a renegade Jedi student influenced by the deceased Dark Lord of the Sith Exar Kun, pursued her using the Sun Crusher. Durron then ignited a supernova within the nebula, resulting in the destruction of the Star Destroyer Basilisk. With only the Gorgon remaining, Daala engaged in a concluding battle within the Maw before retreating, battered, to the Deep Core, which was a stronghold for a multitude of other Imperial Warlords.
