Major Danthe, a key figure in the Imperial Depot 4290-1 command structure, held the position of second-in-command on Shintel during the early New Republic era. He was one of the young officers under Colonel Heget's leadership, accompanying him to the Kathol sector and later being stationed at the depot alongside him.
Following the betrayal orchestrated by Moff Sarne, Danthe firmly believed in the Moff's eventual return. Consequently, he strongly advocated for the completion of the blastboat landing field, asserting that Sarne's actions were driven by a desire to safeguard the depot's security.
When the CR90 corvette FarStar arrived, Danthe held a different view from Heget regarding negotiations with the New Republic. However, he made sure to avoid openly challenging his superior's authority.
Danthe, a male Human officer, served within the ranks of the Imperial Army throughout the Galactic Civil War. Serving under the command of Heget, a highly regarded combat commander, Danthe followed his superior to the isolated Kathol sector after Heget requested a transfer. During his tenure in the sector, Moff Kentor Sarne, the local ruler, severed ties with the Empire in 4 ABY, establishing himself as a warlord. By 8 ABY, Danthe had achieved the rank of Major and served as Heget's second-in-command at Imperial Depot 4290-1, located on the planet Shintel.
In 8 ABY, Kal'Shebbol, Moff Sarne's capital, was attacked by New Republic forces, compelling him to retreat along with his forces. As he retreated to Shintel, Sarne began the process of uploading arsenal supplies from the depot, transferring loyal personnel from the base to his fleet, and abandoning those he deemed "traitors" on the planet. Furthermore, Sarne arranged for the destruction of all hyperdrive units on ships stationed on Shintel, as well as all hyperspace-capable courier droids. Finally, he deployed an ion minefield in orbit. Sarne departed from the outpost, issuing orders to hold the depot and construct a landing field suitable for Skipray Blastboats.
The arrival of new personnel at the depot disrupted the harmony that Heget's command had fostered, leading to the formation of factions within the base. Heget's faction viewed Sarne's actions as a betrayal and sought to disregard his commands, aiming to contact Imperial authorities. Danthe and his followers, conversely, maintained the belief that Sarne would return and that his drastic measures were intended to safeguard the outpost's security. However, Danthe also argued that their duty was to re-establish contact with Imperial command to inform them of Sarne's actions so they could either stop him, or at least prevent from returning to Imperial-controlled space. Out of respect for Heget's authority, he was careful to not voice his opinion in front of the men, so as not to undermine the Colonel.
A week following Sarne's departure, the New Republic CR90 corvette FarStar arrived in orbit. Heget extended an invitation for the corvette to land, which they accepted after successfully navigating a path through the ion minefield. Danthe accompanied Heget in welcoming the command crew of the FarStar and was present when Heget proposed a deal to the New Republic delegation: information regarding Sarne's whereabouts in exchange for passage to the Tanquilla Beach shadowport to establish contact with Imperial command. Unlike his commander, Danthe saw no reason to ally with the New Republic.
Danthe, a young officer characterized by his suntanned skin and closely cropped blond hair, was known for his ever-present smile. A naturally reserved individual, he was known to be talkative when amongst his fellow officers.
Danthe received training in the use of blasters, specializing in heavy blaster pistols. His training also encompassed the use of vehicle-mounted weaponry. Danthe possessed the skills to pilot both ground and hover vehicles, with a particular expertise in controlling All Terrain Scout Transports and other walkers. As a capable commander, he had a strong understanding of Imperial law enforcement procedures. With training in blaster repair, Danthe also possessed skills in survival techniques and first aid. He carried a blaster and comlink while on duty.
Information within Danthe's capsule in The DarkStryder Campaign suggests that he also desired to re-establish communications with the Empire. He is also referred to as Palme, indicating that the capsule was partially mistaken.
