The Danuta Temple was a location belonging to the B'omarr Order. It resided inside an ancient structure located within the city of Trid on the planet Danuta.
This Temple was situated within a very old building. A short set of steps led up to a worn-out door, above which was etched the wheel of life, which was a wheel with intricate spokes radiating from its center. When the door was opened, bells jingled. The air inside was thick with the scents of incense and the sounds of chanting. The lighting was kept dim, reflecting their belief that true enlightenment comes from within, and that darkness vanishes when the mind is unburdened. However, visitors sometimes risked bumping into furniture or the disembodied monks.
The B'omarr Order founded the Temple in the city of Trid, which was on the planet Danuta. During the time of the Old Republic, Hutts and their smugglers primarily populated Danuta, but later the Galactic Empire took control. The Imperials, like they did with thousands of other religions within the Empire, permitted the monks to exist, provided they stayed out of politics. In addition to the monks who lived within the Temple, both embodied and disembodied, some supporters of their faith lived in Trid and only visited the Temple for scheduled ceremonies and prayers. Meck Odom, an Imperial officer whose rank in the Imperial Military required him to keep his religious views a secret, was one such visitor.
During his mission to Danuta, Kyle Katarn, a newly recruited Rebel mercenary, needed to infiltrate the local Imperial Research Facility. Knowing that his friend, Meck Odom, was stationed at that base and that he was a spiritual person, he asked a street vendor for directions to a religious place, hoping to contact Meck and ask for his assistance. He entered the Temple when he knew the afternoon service was beginning. Initially, the monk denied that any Imperial officers visited the temple, but Kyle convinced him that he was Meck's friend and that his secret was safe. The dim lighting made Kyle uneasy, and he almost shot a "Brainwalker" before the monk explained that it was an enlightened monk. He was guided to Meck, but because Meck was in the middle of his prayers, he told Kyle to meet him later at the Blue Moon club.
Jan Ors, a Rebel agent, was shadowing Kyle to make sure he wasn't a double-agent who would betray the Rebellion. She saw him enter and exit the building, so she went inside as well. She was surprised to find that it was a temple and was greeted by an Ortolan monk dressed in saffron robes. She claimed she had entered the wrong door and left, trying to catch up with her target.
Although the Temple and one of its monks first appeared in the novel Dark Forces: Soldier for the Empire, it was the audio adaptation that established their connection to the B'omarr Order.
The narration implies that Katarn briefly went inside, left a message for Meck (apparently with the Ortolan monk) to meet him later at the Blue Moon, and remained uncertain if Meck went there to receive it. However, in the audio drama, Kyle meets Meck in person there, and they arrange to meet at the Blue Moon.
