Star Wars: Dark Force Rising was adapted into a comic book series from the novel Dark Force Rising written by Timothy Zahn.

Plot summary

Grand Admiral Thrawn, the most strategically brilliant and merciless warlord remaining in the dwindling Empire, has assumed command of the remaining Imperial fleet and begun a large-scale offensive with the goal of annihilating the New Republic. Simultaneously, Han Solo and Lando Calrissian are in a race against time to uncover evidence of betrayal within the highest levels of the Republic Council, but instead they stumble upon a spectral fleet of warships that could spell the downfall of their allies and ensure victory for their adversaries. However, the gravest threat of all is a newly emerged Dark Jedi, reborn from the remnants of a forgotten past, filled with resentment, and plotting to turn Luke Skywalker to the dark side.
