Dazh Ranos, a Chiss female strong in the Force, held the rank of Jedi Master. Her period of activity coincided with the war against Zakuul.
Throughout her tenure within the Jedi Order, Master Dazh Ranos, a Jedi, consistently felt like an outsider. From the beginning, she held an aversion to answering to the Jedi Council. The Chiss held a viewpoint critical of the Council's actions, seeing them as unyielding and overly bound by tradition. Ranos was of the opinion that the Council's reliance on identical strategies in every conflict ultimately contributed to their loss to the Eternal Empire.
Ignoring the warnings that her chosen path could lead to the dark side of the Force, Ranos severed her connection with the Jedi Order, departing from Tython to forge her own destiny and heed the will of the Force. Dazh Ranos was convinced that she would be better off on her own and ventured into the remote regions of the known galaxy, far from the Core Worlds. She journeyed through the frontier, offering assistance to ordinary individuals, with the specific aim of avoiding politics and bureaucracy.
During and after the Eternal Empire's conflict, Ranos maintained minimal contact with the Jedi Council, who regarded her as a disreputable agent and an embarrassment. By the time news of the war reached her in the outer reaches of space, the Council had already retreated into hiding. She openly expressed her lack of concern for the Council's fate, indifferent as to whether they continued holding secret meetings or had already perished. By this point, she considered the Eternal Alliance to be of far greater significance than the Jedi Order had ever been. She was of the belief that the Alliance Commander's actions exerted a profound influence on trillions of lives throughout the galaxy, for better or worse, and that joining the Alliance would enable her to achieve more than she ever could have on her own.
Ranos possessed a very candid and critical nature, which contributed to her unpopularity within the Jedi Order. She disliked meditating all day in the Jedi Temple on Tython, and had no interest in the grand scope of politics and bureaucracy, considering it more important to help the people who lived outside the Core Worlds. The Chiss considered herself quite independent and struggled with taking orders from anybody but herself. Master Ranos also believed that the dark side came from putting oneself before others and that true servants of the Force were automatically servants of the light. Dazh Ranos was also very proud of her skill with the lightsaber.
Ranos wielded two metallic vented Crossguard lightsabers powered by blue lightsaber crystals.
Master Ranos made her first appearance in the 2016 expansion Knights of the Eternal Throne for the Star Wars: The Old Republic massively multiplayer online roleplaying video game. Access to her was initially limited to players who attained at least the "Eternal" tier during the "Dark vs. Light" event in the fall of 2016. Subsequently, Ranos has been made unlockable for all players as part of Galactic Season 1, following the release of Update 6.3 "The Dark Descent". If the player is playing as Jedi Knight in Star Wars: The Old Republic, Ranos reveals that she also came across Kira Carsen during a guerrilla attack on a remote Zakuulian outpost but that the rebels were captured and killed by Arcann. The whereabouts of Kira were unknown to Ranos but she remarked that Kira speaking highly of the Alliance Commander was partly the reason why Ranos joined the Eternal Alliance. Ranos also revealed information regarding Scourge but deemed the entire story about him more a myth-enshrouded tale to teach morality. If the player is playing as Sith Warrior, Ranos reveals information regarding Jaesa Willsaam, depending whether Jaesa is affiliated with the light or dark side of the Force.
