Deel Draav was a male Human political figure originating from the planet of Corellia during the era of the Galactic Civil War. He served as the chief magistrate for the settlement of Kor Vella until his assassination orchestrated by the Chirq Council in the year 1 ABY.
Prior to the events of the Battle of Yavin, Draav embarked on a career in politics, seeking the mayoral position in Kor Vella. Hershel Sheridan stood as his principal adversary in his concluding campaign for the office. The electoral contest was tainted by questionable methods employed by both contenders. Ultimately, Draav emerged victorious, albeit by a narrow margin.
In 1 ABY, the Chirq Council—a substantial criminal syndicate on Corellia with ambitious expansion plans—dispatched a package containing illicit funds to him. An accompanying message pledged future payments contingent on the mayor's compliance, while simultaneously issuing threats of reprisal for disobedience. The mayor refrained from depositing the funds into his personal account. Subsequently, he received a series of menacing communications. The anonymous sender demanded Draav's resignation from his post, threatening dire consequences for non-compliance. Draav remained steadfast in his refusal.
The Chirq Council ultimately resolved to eliminate Draav. He narrowly avoided death in their initial attempt due to sheer happenstance. The mayor inadvertently dropped his eating utensil and leaned down to retrieve it just as the initial projectile was discharged. By the time the second shot echoed, the mayor had already secured himself in a safe location. CorSec promptly initiated an inquiry into the incident. Lieutenant Lon Cope sought the assistance of an independent operative who had previously aided CorSec in resolving various cases to identify the perpetrator. The mayor informed the operative about the menacing messages he had received at his office, but omitted any mention of the bribe money. The investigator traced the messages to a derelict underground shelter where evidence suggested that his rival, Hershel Sheridan, was responsible for the assassination attempt. Sheridan's lifeless body was discovered shortly thereafter, apparently a suicide. The investigation appeared to be concluded.
However, not long after, another attempt was made on the mayor's life. This time, it proved successful, and Draav was found deceased. Subsequent investigations revealed that Draav's demise was orchestrated by the Chirq Council, who sought to frame his rival, Sheridan, for the crime.
During his campaign for the mayoral office of Kor Vella, Draav resorted to unscrupulous tactics to defeat his opponent. Conversely, when approached by the Chirq Council with an offer of bribery to manipulate his actions, Draav declined their monetary offer and resisted their directives.
When the Chirq Council attempted to assassinate him, Draav only survived due to a stroke of good fortune. Despite never having faced such a situation before, he maintained his composure. He conveyed to the CorSec agent investigating the case that he deemed it unnecessary to become agitated. Draav perceived it as an inherent aspect of his responsibilities as the mayor of a prominent Corellian city.
Deel Draav functioned as a non-player character (NPC) within Sony Online Entertainment's MMORPG Star Wars Galaxies, before its termination on December 15, 2011. Deel Draav was introduced to the game through the update titled "Chapter 1: The Corellian Captives," which was released on June 8, 2006. He could be located within the mayor's office in Kor Vella on Corellia, although access to his room was restricted to this particular quest. The player was tasked by Lon Cope with investigating the attempted murder, beginning with a brief dialogue with Draav. After a series of brief quests, the player received a communication from Cope regarding Draav's murder and was instructed to investigate the incident. This ultimately led to the unveiling of the Chirq Council and CorSec's efforts to dismantle the organization. These quests were integrated into the Legacy quest, the game's most extensive quest sequence.
