Lon Cope

Lon Cope was a CorSec officer, specifically a male Human, residing on Corellia throughout the Galactic Civil War era.

Biography

Following the Battle of Yavin, Lon Cope held the rank of lieutenant within the Corellian Security Force, with his station located in the urban center of Kor Vella.

In the year 1 ABY, Lieutenant Cope took charge of the investigation surrounding the attempted assassination of Deel Draav, the mayor of Kor Vella. To aid in his efforts, Cope enlisted the assistance of an independent spacer who had previously collaborated with Alana Walden, a Major in CorSec, on Tyrena. During the investigation, the spacer had a conversation with the mayor, who spoke of menacing messages he had found at his office. The spacer traced these messages to a nearby abandoned bunker, where they uncovered evidence seemingly implicating Hershel Sheridan, a political rival, in the assassination attempt. Shortly thereafter, Sheridan's lifeless body was discovered at his house, with the apparent cause of death being suicide. Despite the fact that Hershel Sheridan was murdered, the case was seemingly closed, and the investigation was terminated at this point.

Concurrently, the Corellian Security Force was growing increasingly concerned about the rising tide of spice trafficking within Kor Vella. Immediately after the Sheridan case concluded, Lieutenant Cope was assigned the task of spearheading the investigation to identify the individuals involved in the ryll smuggling operation within the city. A spacer, under the employ of Lon Cope, began by interrogating Menchi Lerann, a local spice addict. Lerann revealed that he procured his ryll from Vuul Sarlin and Jaylon Geissler, two spice dealers. Subsequently, the spacer questioned Geissler at his Ryll Warehouse, but the criminal was clearly unwilling to cooperate. However, after the spacer began destroying some spice crates within the warehouse, Jaylon Geissler reluctantly agreed to divulge Vuul Sarlin's current location: a small encampment situated in the plains just outside Kor Vella. Consequently, the spacer launched an assault on the camp, overpowering Vuul Sarlin's guards. Sarlin was then compelled to disclose all he knew about the ryll smuggling ring. He revealed that his contact among the smugglers, who supplied him with spice, was Ladonna Poe, and that their base of operations was a bunker in the vicinity. Later, the CorSec agents conducted a raid on the Ryll Smuggler Bunker, where they discovered a red circle symbol on the crates of unrefined ryll. However, Lieutenant Cope abruptly called off the assault upon receiving news that Deel Draav, the mayor of Kor Vella, had been assassinated.

Consequently, Lon Cope reopened the Draav and Sheridan case, dispatching his agent to re-examine Hershel Sheridan's body. Further investigation revealed that the blaster supposedly used for the suicide lacked a power cell. The spacer also found a card with a single red circle in Hershel's hand. Cope then instructed his agent to search the mayor's office. The spacer discovered an unopened package containing a substantial sum of credits, along with a note bearing a single red circle signature. It appeared that the credits were offered to the mayor in exchange for his cooperation. As the money was never transferred into his account, Cope deduced that the mayor was assassinated for refusing corruption, while his opponent was murdered to conceal the initial assassination attempt.

Given that the murders of the politicians were linked to both a red circle and the ryll smugglers, Lon Cope resolved to concentrate on the ryll smuggling ring in order to confront what he termed the Red Circle Gang. During the investigation into the assassinated mayor, a CorSec agent trailing a suspect discovered a small base outside of Kor Vella, guarded by individuals wearing armbands adorned with a red circle. While investigating spice smuggling, Cope also assisted a Rebel Alliance agent by arranging a meeting for him with Ubis Reendorr, a Rodian smuggler connected to the Red Circle Gang, at a cantina in Kor Vella. During the meeting, the operative successfully acquired an access card for the Red Circle Base from Reendorr, which he subsequently handed over to Cope. Furthermore, the spacer working for Lieutenant Cope revisited the Ryll Smuggler Bunker, where the crates of spice bearing a red circle had been found. The CorSec agent eliminated the underboss Ubis Reendorr and obtained an access code for the Red Circle Base. The CorSec then launched an assault on the Red Circle Base. The spacer utilized Reendorr's access code to hack into the mainframe located in the base's courtyard, uncovering the identities of the three local Red Circle Gang leaders: Vora Anjek, Annor Fash, and Vella Corse, who were promptly eliminated in the base's basement. Moreover, the spacer discovered within the base's databases that the Red Circle Gang was, in fact, a major criminal organization known as the Chirq Council. The information revealed that the Chirq Council and its leaders were based in the city of Doaba Guerfel. As the investigation grew more complex, the case was transferred to Vitala Baize, a Captain and CorSec officer stationed in Doaba Guerfel. Lon Cope shared all the information he had gathered about the Chirq Council with Captain Baize and requested that the spacer who had assisted him travel to Doaba Guerfel to provide further support to Baize. The CorSec investigation ultimately led to the dismantling of the Chirq Council.
