Descent motif

A musical motif, initially showcased in the prequel trilogy movie Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones from 2002, was created by John Williams and brought to life by the London Symphony Orchestra. This motif, a blend of dies irae and "Across the Stars," can be heard in the tracks "The Dinner Scene" and "Anakin Changes," signifying Anakin Skywalker's descent into the dark side. It resurfaces in Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith, once more representing Skywalker's downfall in tracks such as "Anakin's Betrayal," "Lament," and "The Immolation Scene." The concluding track plays as Skywalker, having been defeated in his duel by Obi-Wan Kenobi, is engulfed in lava on the planet Mustafar. For the Revenge of the Sith score, both the London Symphony Orchestra and London Voices performed the musical motif within Abbey Road Studios. A brief section of the motif is heard during the Battle of Crait within the sequel trilogy film Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi, which premiered in 2017. Specifically, it's present near the end of the track titled "The Battle of Crait."
