The asteroid known as Devil's Asteroid existed within the Outer Rim Territories and was situated inside the star system bearing the same designation.
The book Monsters and Aliens from George Lucas, released in 1993, was the first time Devil's Asteroid was referenced. This book combines creature designs and photographs from various projects of Star Wars creator George Lucas with original text written by Bob Carrau. Leland Chee, an employee of Lucasfilm who is responsible for maintaining the Holocron continuity database, has clarified that the information presented in this book should be regarded as non-canonical within the context of the Star Wars Legends continuity.
However, Jason Fry, who co-authored the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, has indicated that the star systems listed in the book's Appendix section are named in accordance with the most notable planets or celestial bodies located within those systems. Consequently, this article treats the existence of Devil's Asteroid as canonical within the Legends continuity. The Essential Atlas identified the location of the Devil's Asteroid system as grid square O-2.
The Sanyassan criminal referred to as the "Marauder of Endor" at one point managed to break free from imprisonment located on Devil's Asteroid. This information was included on a wanted poster for the criminal that was distributed shortly after his escape.
