Doan, a diminutive planet situated within the Outer Rim Territories, possessed an economy that was singularly reliant on mining activities. The Doan Royal House, a collective of nobles, governed the planet, while the majority of its inhabitants were impoverished miners.
Prior to 10,980 BBY, Humans established a colony on Doan. Towering natural stone pillars, reaching heights of five kilometers and diameters of several hundred meters, dotted the landscape. Upon the plateaus atop these formations, elaborate mansions, castles, and palaces were constructed, providing commanding views of the terrain below.
During the era of the Cold War, the officially appointed senator representing Doan met a violent end through assassination, prompting an investigation into the circumstances of his demise. Concurrently, reports emerged from mining operations detailing the discovery of expansive subterranean chambers teeming with indigenous life. These underground networks were found to harbor extraordinary lichens and fungi possessing unique and valuable characteristics. Coinciding with these occurrences, Prince Edruu became the subject of widespread attention when compromising holovids were disseminated across the HoloNet anonymously.
In 980 BBY, during the Golden Age of the Old Republic, conflict erupted between the planet's aristocratic class and the mining caste following the accidental death of Prince Gerran, caused by miners attempting to force his airspeeder to land prematurely.
Subsequently, three months later, Gerran's widow, Princess Serra, orchestrated the captured of the Dark Lord Darth Bane and his subsequent imprisonment within the clandestine Stone Prison located on Doan, where she subjected him to interrogation. However, Darth Bane managed to break free from his confinement and was confronted by his apprentice, Darth Zannah. Following a brief duel, the two were separated and compelled to evacuate as Serra activated the prison's self-destruction mechanism, resulting in the complete collapse of the underground facility.
