Dor Gal-ram existed as a Sith Lord in the time preceding the Great Hyperspace War, an event that occurred 5,000 years prior to the Battle of Yavin. Being a member of the Sith species, Gal-ram originated from a region of space known as the Sith Empire. Following the demise of Dark Lord of the Sith Marka Ragnos, Gal-ram chose to support Ludo Kressh, one of the individuals vying for the vacant title. The primary opponent of Kressh was Naga Sadow, a forward-thinking Sith Lord who harbored desires for expansion. Sadow orchestrated an attack on the Sith Empire in 5,000 BBY, carefully designed to mimic an assault by the Galactic Republic. He then exploited this fabricated event to declare himself the new Dark Lord of the Sith. This action resulted in a division between Sadow and Kressh, with Gal-ram aligning himself with Kressh. Subsequently, Sadow orchestrated another incursion, this time intentionally leaving behind evidence that implicated him in the scheme. Upon discovering this evidence, an enraged Kressh instructed Gal-ram and another supporter, Horak-mul, to mobilize their forces and launch an attack against Sadow. During the subsequent conflict at Khar Delba, Gal-ram and his allies were outmaneuvered and ultimately defeated by Sadow. Gal-ram, together with Horak-mul, met his end in the battle when Sadow commanded the crew of Gal-ram's flagship to betray and assassinate him.

Dor Gal-ram was a male member of the Sith species, serving as a Sith Lord in the era preceding the Great Hyperspace War around 5000 BBY. His origins lay in a region of space within the galaxy referred to as the Sith Empire. At some point in his life, Gal-ram collaborated with fellow Sith Horak-mul to create a series of tablets. In 5,000 BBY, Dark Lord of the Sith Marka Ragnos passed away following a century of strict rule. After Ragnos's death, two Sith Lords, Naga Sadow and Ludo Kressh, emerged as contenders to fill the resulting power vacuum. Gal-ram threw his support behind Kressh, the more traditional Sith Lord, over Sadow, who was a progressive with expansionist aims. Around this period, the arrival of two Humans, Gav and Jori Daragon, from the Galactic Republic into the Sith Empire sparked a conflict between Sadow and Kressh, as they held differing views on how to handle the Daragons.
Ultimately, Sadow orchestrated an attack on the Sith Empire, meticulously crafted to resemble a Republic assault, thereby inciting the Sith into a state of frenzy. During a gathering on the planet of Ziost in the aftermath of the raid, Sadow proclaimed himself as the new Dark Lord of the Sith. Gal-ram remained silent as the majority of the other Sith Lords voiced their endorsement of Sadow. An incensed Kressh summoned his remaining loyalists to rally around him, and Gal-ram departed the meeting alongside the Sith Lord. Following the meeting, Sadow staged another fabricated Republic attack on a hangar located on Ziost, which housed the Daragons' ship, the Starbreaker 12, and subsequently absconded with the vessel. Upon reaching the hangar, Kressh discovered Sadow's emblem amidst the devastation. Shocked and enraged, Kressh summoned Gal-ram and another of his supporters, the one-eyed Sith Lord Horak-mul, to his chambers on Rhelg to discuss these developments. There, Kressh informed them of Sadow's involvement in the attack and commanded Gal-ram and Horak-mul to assemble their fleets in order to launch a surprise attack against Sadow.
Gal-ram followed these instructions, gathering his forces and joining Kressh's and Horak-mul's fleets at Khar Delba, the location of Sadow's citadel. They initiated their assault, unleashing a barrage of laser fire upon Sadow's base. However, Sadow had anticipated the battle and had concealed his fleet in orbit around Khar Delba's moon, Khar Shian. Sadow's fleet launched a surprise attack on Gal-ram and his allies, catching them off guard. Sadow then proceeded to the next phase of his plan: ordering the Massassi crew of Gal-ram's flagship—who were, in reality, Sadow'een, assassins under Sadow's command—to assassinate him. Gal-ram, preoccupied with the battle, was caught unaware by the Massassi crew, who murdered him. Horak-mul suffered a similar fate, and Kressh was defeated in the Battle of Khar Delba.
Dor Gal-ram was a firm backer of Ludo Kressh, as opposed to Naga Sadow. However, being aware of the risks involved in speaking out against the new Dark Lord of the Sith, he kept his allegiance a secret. Gal-ram was concerned that meeting with Kressh on Rhelg after Sadow's theft of the Daragons' starship was an unnecessary risk, but he still rallied with Kressh against Sadow.
Dor Gal-ram made his debut in Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi – The Golden Age of the Sith, a story arc within the Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi comic series. This arc was penned by Kevin J. Anderson and released in 1996. Gal-ram's initial appearance was in a non-speaking capacity in the third issue of the arc, The Fabric of an Empire. His role was subsequently expanded in the fourth issue, Pawns of a Sith Lord, and the fifth issue, The Flight of Starbreaker 12, in which his character met his demise. In these appearances, Gal-ram was illustrated by Dario Carrasco, Jr. In 2008, Gal-ram was included as an entry in The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia.
