Dra III, a planet situated in the Wyl sector of the Outer Rim, was infamous for its hazardous indigenous creatures. The planet was subject to frequent groundquakes and violent storms. These weather conditions, coupled with intense gravity, led to the evolution of powerful and robust animal life. Sport hunters often journeyed to Dra III in search of trophies. The most well-known native creature of Dra III was the six-legged predator called the nashtah, occasionally used as guard animals beyond the planet's borders.
Dra III, a mountainous world in the Outer Rim, was located within the Dra system in the Wyl sector, bordering the Corporate Sector along the Authority Guardian Corridor. The planet was constantly plagued by both groundquakes and hurricanes, and its strong gravity resulted in fauna that were both heavy and strong. The planet's dangerous and volatile weather patterns bred equally dangerous wildlife, and it gained notoriety for its untamed beasts. The nashtah, also known as the Dravian hound, was the most recognized of Dra III's creatures, being the only native animal ever domesticated. These six-legged predators were sometimes employed as guard beasts by gangsters across the galaxy. In addition, cal-serpents and fullors roamed Dra III's terrain, typically inhabiting the forests and plains.
During the later years of the Galactic Republic, the renowned Republic scout Barosa Warren visited Dra III, where he sustained a scar on his right arm due to a nashtah attack. By the time of the Galactic Civil War, the planet had become famous as a sport hunting destination because of its perilous wildlife. It also produced a single export: the Kell Mark II heavy assault rifle, a powerful, though antiquated, weapon.
The first mention of Dra III occurred in Han Solo's Revenge, a novel by Brian Daley that was published in 1979.
