Barosa Warren, a Morellian male figure, was a law enforcement officer renowned for his survival skills. He also served as the chancellor of the Galactic Outdoor Survival School. Warren harbored a deep-seated animosity towards his former pupils who chose to align themselves with the Rebel Alliance. As a Morellian, known for their extended lifespans, he was thought to be the last of his kind.
Born on Morellia, Barosa Warren belonged to the Morellian species, a Near-Human race characterized by their longevity. His birth occurred approximately 160 years prior to the outbreak of the Galactic Civil War, and he remained an active figure as late as 2 ABY. In his younger years, Warren was a member of the Morellian Enforcers, a police force that utilized relatively basic technology, including the .48-caliber Enforcer pistol manufactured by the Morellian Weapons Conglomerate. He adhered to the traditional Morellian Enforcer uniform, which consisted of leather boots, blackstrap gloves, and a long leather oilcoat.
Subsequently, Warren transitioned to a role as a scout for the Galactic Republic. He gained recognition for his expertise in reclaiming hazardous planets, such as Buamlon Central, Frewwil, Theal, and Dra III. On Dra III, he sustained injuries from a nashtah attack, resulting in a permanent scar on his right arm. This period solidified his reputation as a leading authority on survival in hostile environments throughout the galaxy.
By 57 BBY, Warren, though still relatively young by Morellian standards, announced his retirement from scouting to pursue his lifelong ambition. Despite facing setbacks, including strained friendships due to seeking financial support, he acquired a planet in the Ollonir Boundaries known as OM813, which he renamed Thrantin. He then transformed the planet into a training facility for his survival school, incorporating features such as Zero-G zones, an Ammonia Ocean, and the Heavy Grav Mountainous Zones. While acknowledging the value of training on diverse planets, Warren emphasized the importance of a "controlled environment" to prevent cheating among his students.
Over the course of four decades, Warren established the Galactic Outdoor Survival School, an organization dedicated to training survivalists to thrive in environments inhospitable to their own species. He assumed the roles of chancellor, dean, and master instructor, while also employing a specialized staff. Many staff members, particularly Stren Grier and Casti Tholon, Warren's assistant, confidante, and close friend, demonstrated unwavering loyalty to him. Warren also acquired a fleet of vehicles for the school, including at least seven modified Mu-2 class long range shuttles and his personal vessel, the Cannibal. The Galactic Outdoor Survival School, or G.O.S.S., rose to prominence as a leading institution, with its alumni becoming scouts for corporations, independent entities, or political factions aligned with either the Empire or the Rebellion. Some graduates also became instructors at GOSS or established their own training centers.
Warren fathered several children, all of whom were of mixed Morellian and Human heritage, contributing to the perception that he was the last of his species. His known offspring included Alton Lochner, Danlea Lochner (both of whom adopted different surnames due to strained relationships with their father), Roland Warren, and Tole Warren.
Around 17 BBY, the Summit Class distinguished itself as the most exceptional class in GOSS history, setting a new record in the final trek exam. Warren held the Summits in high regard for their achievements. Seven years later, the Twilight Class surpassed the Summits' record by more than a day. Warren recruited Larq Thur, a mine survivalist from the Twilight Class, as an instructor at GOSS. Another Twilight graduate, Kiras Torla, became a close associate of Warren and his staff after completing her studies.
However, eleven of the twelve members of the Twilight Class subsequently joined the Rebel Alliance. Warren, who harbored deep disdain for the Rebellion, considered them his personal adversaries from that point forward. Some students believed that Warren even dispatched mercenaries and bounty hunters to pursue them. Torla, formerly a friend of Warren, became so fearful of him that she vanished from known space.
Twilight veterans and Rebel officers Sisquoc, Ma'w'shiye, and Derembus Sitnalta compiled extensive reports on Warren to warn other Rebels about the threat he posed.
The Alliance Intelligence Reports source presents some inconsistencies regarding Barosa Warren's age. It states that he was in his 110s when he initiated the GOSS project and that four decades elapsed before its opening (placing him in his 150s). The reports also indicate that he was in his 160s around 2 ABY ("current age" at the time of writing). This timeline suggests that GOSS had been operational for one decade, since 8 BBY. However, the Twilight Class graduated from GOSS 12 years before the "current events," which would be 10 BBY, and they broke a 7-year-old record set by the Summit Class—implying that GOSS had been open since at least around 17 BBY.
The only birthdate that aligns with all the aforementioned facts is 167 BBY. This would make him exactly 110 when he began working on GOSS in 57 BBY, technically "in his 110s." "Four decades later," he would be 150 in 17 BBY, allowing the Summit class to set their record later that year. The Twilight class breaks it 7 years later in 10 BBY, twelve years prior to "present events" in 2 ABY when Warren would be 169, still "in his 160s."
