The Draay family had risen to become among the most impactful and dominant Human families within the Galactic Republic and the Jedi Order by the era of the Mandalorian Wars. However, their influence as a powerful business dynasty predated their emergence as a source of Force-sensitives; Arvan Carrick noted that "every time the Draays were knighted, the markets shook," highlighting their economic sway.

Prominent members of the Draay family included Lady Krynda Draay and her son, the Jedi Master Lucien Draay. Barrison Draay, Krynda's husband and Lucien's father, was a renowned Jedi warrior who perished during the Great Sith War. Krynda's sister, also apparently a Jedi, also died in the conflict.
Numerous sons from House Praji married daughters of the Draay family, leading to the emergence of several Praji Jedi Knights, such as Derrica Praji, until the Jedi Order implemented its restrictions on marriage following the Great Sith War.
The Draay Estate on Coruscant served as the family's base of operations. They also managed the Draay Trust.
