"Dread Discovery!" represented the third part of the series The Keeper's World, appearing in the December 1977 issue of Pizzazz 3. The complete narrative was republished in the UK within Star Wars Weekly 47–50 throughout 1978–79, and also in the limited-edition comic book Star Wars 0 in 1999.
While attempting to evade an Imperial fleet, Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, C-3PO, and R2-D2 experience a forced landing on an unknown planet. C-3PO comes across indications that enormous beings inhabit the world. Simultaneously, the Imperials locate the wreckage and dispatch a shuttle to seize them once more.
