The droid march, a musical motif, was created by John Williams for the Star Wars prequel trilogy. It serves as the musical representation of the battle droids.
It is featured at several points in Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace as the Trade Federation Droid Army stages its invasion of the planet Naboo. In Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones, it is employed to musically depict the clone troopers—and is heard when Obi-Wan Kenobi first observes them fully armored on Kamino—who would become the Grand Army of the Republic as tools of the Sith.
A similar musical composition, "The Arena," is introduced in "Love Pledge and the Arena" from Attack of the Clones; it represents the Grand Army of the Republic. The piece also makes an appearance in Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds: Clone Campaigns as part of a collection of background tracks meant to symbolize each faction in the game. In Star Wars: Battlefront, the theme plays when the Confederacy of Independent Systems achieves victory in Galactic Conquest.
The theme is also incorporated into Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith as the Battle of Kashyyyk begins with a droid assault at Kachirho. Furthermore, Revenge of the Sith utilizes the theme as Padmé Amidala lands on Mustafar.
