A drop company represented a specific type of unit structure found inside the Imperial Army.
These drop companies functioned similarly to standard Imperial line companies, but with increased support capabilities. These companies were prepped and ready in orbit for deployment, designed to handle missions lasting up to six weeks. However, typical operational guidelines aimed for mission durations of just two weeks. The support staff received specialized training in surviving dangerous environments and were responsible for teaching survival skills to the individual platoons.
The standard composition of a drop company was enhanced by incorporating two additional line platoons, one assault platoon, and one armor platoon.
