The Dyspeth system existed within the Varada sector of the Outer Rim Territories'. This system was home to an isolated and rather plain planet, along with its inhabitable moon, Dyspeth, which was perpetually shrouded in the planet's shadow.
Human colonists seeking separation from the Galactic Republic initially established a settlement on Dyspeth a little over nine hundred years prior to the Battle of Yavin. Despite the galaxy largely forgetting about Dyspeth following its initial colonization, a Republic survey group rediscovered the moon circa 400 BBY. Despite some initial reservations about the intentions of the galactic authority, the people of Dyspeth rejoined the galactic community as unassuming traders. Subsequently, the Disciples of Twilight, the moon's local group of Force-sensitive beings, progressively scattered throughout the nearby star systems.
The reference book The Essential Atlas by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry, published in 2009, marked the first mention of the Dyspeth system, locating it within grid coordinate I-20.
