Edda Gast, a female Human, held the position of scientist responsible for the alteration and "Humanization" of various alien species. Her objective was to broaden their cognitive abilities, enabling them to experience thoughts and emotions akin to those of Humans. Among the primary species involved in Dr. Gast's experimental procedures were Gamorreans, including Voort saBinring, as well as Ewoks and Talz.
Dr. Tuzin Gast, her uncle, initially directed Project Chubar. However, he developed affection for his creations and ultimately took his own life alongside the more aggressive specimens. Subsequently, Edda assumed the role of the project's lead scientist.
Following a failed raid on the Binring facilities, Wraith Squadron, a commando unit of the New Republic, apprehended Gast. Nawara Ven of Rogue Squadron guaranteed her immunity from prosecution in exchange for providing all available intelligence on Warlord Zsinj to the New Republic.
Voort saBinring of Wraith Squadron intervened to prevent an assassination attempt on her life by a subject of Zsinj's Project Minefield. Although initially presumed dead, Ven secretly rescued her, thereby reinforcing the credibility of her assumed identity.
Despite her speciesist tendencies and arrogance, she was confident in her ability to evade any consequences. Ven presented her with an opportunity to redeem herself, but she opted to accept half a million Imperial credits rather than New Republic currency. These credits were subsequently seized on Coruscant, and she was arrested for smuggling. Ven then highlighted that, according to New Republic law, smuggling substantial amounts of Imperial credits constituted sedition. In her final act, she spat on Ven, believing that he had orchestrated her downfall.
