Elee is the moniker that the human Salju used for a pet. This pet was given to her by her father after he returned from a trip when she was a youngling. The small, hairy, four-legged animal, Elee, was the most docile creature Salju had ever known. Salju kept Elee as a pet on Batuu until Elee became too large. Then, Elee was relocated to live with other members of her species in the Surabat River Valley. Salju frequently visited Elee and they would play just like when they were younger while Salju managed Black Spire Station during the war between the First Order and the Resistance.
Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, which debuted for visitors at Disneyland on May 31, was the first place Elee was mentioned. Elee was initially created for a third, never-built attraction for Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. This attraction, often called "the Bantha ride", would have allowed visitors to ride a life-size, animatronic Elee around Black Spire Outpost. However, this idea was ultimately abandoned due to financial constraints.
