A therii represented a sizable, gregarious creature native to the planet of Batuu. Elee was a specific therii, serving as the cherished companion of Salju, a resident of Black Spire Outpost.
These creatures possessed distinctive features, including pendulous ears and a pair of tusks. Their hooves were bifurcated, exhibiting two toes, and their bodies were covered in a gentle, reddish-brown coat of fur. As herbivores, their diet primarily consisted of foliage, consuming leaves and stems.
The therii made its debut in the children's book Elee & Me, authored by Amy Ratcliffe and released in 2020. Ratcliffe, drawing inspiration from woolly mammoths for Elee's design, derived the name "therii" from a mammoth's scientific nomenclature.
The creation of the therii species stemmed from a proposed, yet unrealized, third attraction for Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, frequently dubbed "the Bantha ride". This concept involved visitors riding a life-sized, animatronic Elee through Black Spire Outpost, but it was ultimately abandoned due to financial constraints.
