The Erso homestead, which can also be referred to as the Erso farm, served as the dwelling for the Erso family on the planet of Lah'mu. Following their departure from Coruscant, the Ersos resided on Lah'mu for a duration of four years until their discovery by Orson Krennic.
The Erso homestead was built upon sixty-five hectares of land located on the planet of Lah'mu. This land was acquired with the assistance of Onderonian rebel Saw Gerrera, intended for use by the Erso's as a refuge from the pursuing Galactic Empire. The majority of the living space was constructed underground, characterized by its spartan and enclosed nature, employing insulator drapes and chiller bars to effectively manage the temperature within the subterranean environment. The kitchen featured a modular design, constructed from robust units specifically designed to safeguard dry goods against infestations by vermin or insects. To supply power and heating to the structure, shunts were integrated into geothermal vents. Excess power was stored within repurposed supply tanks, serving as a backup for emergency situations and to energize the homestead's moisture vaporators. Despite the necessity of utilizing vaporators to gather water due to the elevated mineral content of the groundwater, the soil in the surrounding area proved to be fertile, facilitating the cultivation of crops sufficient to sustain the family. The Ersos utilized an SE-2 worker droid to assist with routine tasks and to provide security for the homestead.
After the Ersos fled Coruscant, Gerrera informed them of Lah'mu, describing it as a secluded and peaceful world, albeit somewhat barren. Gerrera played a role in the construction of the Erso homestead, aiding in the procurement of the necessary building materials. For a period of 4 years, the Ersos maintained a modest lifestyle while evading the Empire. They regularly practiced safety drills, during which the family would seek shelter in a bunker located within a cave situated at the far end of the homestead property.
However, upon the arrival of Krennic and his death troopers, only Jyn Erso was directed to the concealed bunker. Lyra Erso met her end when she confronted Krennic, and Galen Erso was taken away. Before their departure from the system, the death troopers thoroughly searched the Erso residence in pursuit of Galen's research, which resulted in the removal of floor boards, the overturning of Jyn's bed, the destruction of her dolls, and the ignition of a fire within the kitchen.
Gerrera arrived on Lah'mu several hours following Krennic's and his troopers' abduction of Galen, having been alerted by Jyn. Upon discovering Jyn in the hidden bunker, Gerrera and Jyn conducted a search of the homestead, seeking any research materials that Krennic and his troopers might have overlooked. After confirming the absence of any remaining research, Gerrera planted an explosive device within the residential structure, which he detonated as they departed the homestead, resulting in the destruction of the Ersos' home.
