During the Clone Wars, the Confederacy of Independent Systems' Navy utilized Escort Flight, a specialized group of Rogue-class starfighters. This squadron served as an elite protective detail for General Grievous' personal starfighter, the Soulless One.
This squadron, known as Escort Flight, was made up of the most skilled IG-100 MagnaGuard-piloted Rogue-class dogfighting craft, drawn from at least two separate squadrons, including the 13th Strike Wing. These starfighters, originally the Utapauan Porax-38 starfighter, were modified by the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars and built by Baktoid Armor Workshop. Escort Flight's fighters were upgraded with improved weapons and tactical systems. Despite their reassignment, the starfighters continued to display the markings of their original squadrons.
General Grievous of the Separatist forces employed Escort Flight throughout the Clone Wars. They acted as a dedicated, high-performance escort for his personal vessel, the Soulless One, in combat against the Grand Army of the Republic.
Star Wars PocketModel TCG's Clone Wars expansion presented two Rogue-class starfighter miniatures. One was identified as a Porax-38 from the 13th Strike Wing, while the other was labeled as one of two units from Escort Flight. Hasbro's Magnaguard Fighter toys, both the Titanium miniature and the 3-1/4" action vehicle, shared identical markings and color schemes with the Star Wars PocketModel TCG miniatures, linking them to the squadrons identified in the PocketModel game.
In the Star Wars: The Clone Wars episode "Holocron Heist," a starfighter bearing a strong resemblance to the Porax-38 was referred to as a "Rogue-class starfighter." Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Incredible Vehicles, published in 2011, later retconned previous appearances of the Porax-38, establishing the Rogue-class as a distinct model derived from the Porax-38 by the CIS.
