Eyan McDermitt functioned as a male pirate chieftain who made his home on Tatooine during the time of the Galactic Civil War.

Following the events of the Battle of Yavin, Eyan McDermitt commanded a relatively small pirate organization operating from Mos Taike, situated on the world of Tatooine. In the year 1 ABY, McDermitt and his crew successfully seized control of a courier vessel that belonged to the Incom Corporation. While the pirates primarily sought after standard freight, they also managed to abscond with an encrypted datapad containing highly confidential information. One of the pirates, known as Oniruko, attempted to slice the datapad, but was critically wounded by the storage device's security measures. Due to his failure to extract the data, Eyan McDermitt later agreed to sell the datapad to an Imperial commando by the name of Jubai Laetlii. Simultaneously, an individual named Sarlis Beni was hired by Incom Corporation with the task of recovering the datapad. Beni located the pirate group and deployed a spy with the goal of retrieving the stored data. The spy eliminated four members of the gang before confronting McDermitt. Ultimately, the pirate leader was compelled to admit that he had already sold the datapad to Jubai Laetlii. Subsequently, the spy departed from the pirates and traveled to the Imperial Oasis in pursuit of Laetlii. In the end, the datapad was successfully returned to the Incom Corporation.

Eyan McDermitt was featured as a non-player character within the confines of the 2003 video game known as Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game that was brought to life by Sony Online Entertainment and distributed by LucasArts, before its ultimate shutdown on December 15, 2011. Eyan McDermitt's inclusion in the game occurred with the arrival of the "Publish 25," also referred to as the "New Game Enhancements," on November 15, 2005. Following each server reset, Eyan McDermitt's species, gender, and physical appearance were subject to change. Nevertheless, the quest journal consistently indicated that he was male.
Among the players of Star Wars Galaxies, there existed some conjecture that the name Eyan McDermitt could potentially be a nod to the Star Wars performers Ewan McGregor, Ian McDiarmid, or perhaps both of them. However, these assertions remain unconfirmed.
