Eyan McDermitt's pirate gang

A group of buccaneers, headed by Eyan McDermitt, were active on the world of Tatooine during the time of the Galactic Civil War.

History

Following the Battle of Yavin, the band of pirates, under the leadership of Eyan McDermitt, established their headquarters in Mos Taike on Tatooine. Despite having connections to the Black Sun, other criminal syndicates, such as Jabba the Hutt's criminal empire, generally looked down upon them. However, the pirates had previously declined offers to collaborate with the Valarian Syndicate.

In the year 1 ABY, the group of pirates commandeered a courier vessel belonging to the Incom Corporation. While their primary intention was to seize general merchandise, they also absconded with an encoded datapad containing confidential data. One of the pirates, Oniruko, attempted to slice the datapad, but she suffered fatal injuries due to the storage device's security measures. Because he failed to extract the data, Eyan McDermitt subsequently agreed to sell the datapad to an Imperial commando known as Jubai Laetlii. Simultaneously, an individual named Sarlis Beni was engaged by the Incom Corporation to recover the datapad. Beni located the pirate organization and sent a spy to retrieve the stored data. The spy eliminated four members of the pirate band and confronted McDermitt. The pirate chief was compelled to reveal that he had sold the datapad to Jubai Laetlii. Subsequently, the spy abandoned the pirates and journeyed to the Imperial Oasis in search of Laetlii. Ultimately, the datapad was successfully returned to the Incom Corporation.

Behind the scenes

These pirates made their debut in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game that was created by Sony Online Entertainment and distributed by LucasArts, before it was shut down on December 15, 2011. The pirates were integrated into the game with the launch of "Publish 25," also known as the "New Game Enhancements," on November 15, 2005.
