Falta was a witch from Dathomir who existed during the waning days of the Republic Era. Living apart from any clan structure, she was well-known for her talent in crafting enchanted items and resided in a hut situated on the distant edge of the swamp, not far from the Nightsister fortress. She had possessed several rancors. Ultimately, Falta employed her abilities to execute an extraordinary feat of magick, conjuring a daughter for herself, whom she named Yenna. Mother Talzin, who led the Nightsisters, became fascinated by Yenna and, despite Falta's concerns, eventually convinced the girl to become a member of her clan.
In approximately 20 BBY, following the Battle of Dathomir that nearly annihilated the Nightsisters, Falta journeyed to their fortress, seeking her daughter. There, the witch Daka, on her deathbed, informed Falta that Talzin had arranged for Yenna to be evacuated from Dathomir during the conflict. The search Falta undertook eventually led her, along with her pet tooka named Ichor, to the planetoid of Sídi. On Sídi, she encountered a young human girl known as Bug and discovered a transmission suggesting that Yenna had been dispatched in a pod to a location within the Mid Rim. Upon departing Sídi, Falta brought Bug along, taking her on as a new apprentice.
