Farng

A male Human trader encased in carbonite, named Farng, spearheaded the Carbonite Miners' Union within the Empress Teta system during the years preceding the Great Sith War. In 3997 BBY, the [Krath](/article/krath/legends], a dark side-adoring group helmed by royal siblings Satal and Aleema Keto, seized control of the system by overthrowing the Tetan monarchy. Farng, along with several other carbonite merchants, chose to defy the Krath's authority, establishing a resistance movement. However, his activities were discovered, leading to his capture and sentencing to death in a public execution orchestrated by the Krath. On the day of his scheduled execution, Aleema Keto presented Farng with an opportunity to recant his defiance and submit to the Krath, but he firmly refused. As the darksider prepared to carry out the execution, a spectator unexpectedly threw a knife to Farng. He then lunged at Keto, while members of the resistance revealed their presence and engaged Krath security in combat. Armed with the knife, Farng came close to reaching the Krath leader, but Jedi Knight Ulic Qel-Droma, who was on a secret mission to infiltrate the Krath, intervened from the crowd and fatally struck the carbonite merchant with his lightsaber.

Biography

Farng stands on a Tetan repulsordisk, awaiting his execution.

Farng, a male Human originating from the planet of Empress Teta, worked as a trader dealing in carbonite during the years preceding the Great Sith War. He also held the position of leader within the Carbonite Miners' Union. During that time, the Carbonite Guild exerted considerable power within the Empress Teta system, compelling the monarchs of the system, Lord Keto and Magda Keto, his sister, to share authority with the organization. However, in 3997 BBY, the Tetan Monarchy was overthrown by the Krath, a dark side-influenced faction headed by the royal heirs Satal and Aleema Keto. Under the Krath's governance, anyone who opposed them faced persecution and were often killed in public executions. Despite this, not everyone within the system submitted to their rule; a group of local carbonite traders, including Farng, decided to stand against the Krath regime. Eventually, Farng was apprehended and condemned to die in an upcoming Krath public execution. The Krath's preferred method of execution involved placing their prisoners on a repulsordisk suspended high above a Carbonite drilling machine. Aleema Keto would then use a dark side illusion to frighten the captive, causing them to lose their balance and fall into the drilling machine. Farng was scheduled to meet his end in this manner.

When the time came for Farng's execution, Aleema Keto presented him with a final opportunity to obey the Krath and save himself. However, Farng refused, declaring that he would rather die than surrender to the Krath's rule. With his fate seemingly sealed, the sorceress prepared to kill him. At that moment, a spectator threw a knife to Farng, exclaiming that the Krath regime would be destroyed instead. Freeing himself from his restraints, Farng lunged toward Keto, while other members of the resistance revealed themselves and drew their weapons. Farng, wielding the knife, nearly reached the Krath ruler. However, Jedi Knight Ulic Qel-Droma, who was on a covert mission to infiltrate the Krath and uncover their dark secrets, emerged from the crowd and fatally struck the carbonite trader with his lightsaber. With Farng dead, the remaining members of the resistance were subdued by Krath security forces.

Personality and traits

Farng was a staunch opponent of the Krath regime and displayed the audacity to attempt to assassinate its leader, Aleema Keto. He held strong convictions, refusing to yield to the Krath's rule even at the cost of his life. Farng possessed proficiency in knife combat and demonstrated the agility to leap from his repulsordisk to Aleema Keto's perch, which was located several meters away.
