An Imperial IFT-T hovertank
A repulsortank, also referred to as a hovertank, represented a class of tank utilizing repulsorlifts for movement. They generally possessed greater firepower and stronger armor compared to a combat landspeeder. Certain hovertanks, such as the T1-B hovertank, were equipped with deflector shields.
The Grand Army of the Republic employed the TX-130 Saber-class fighter tank, and the Confederacy of Independent Systems utilized the Ground Armored Tank. These hovertanks, among others, demonstrated varying levels of speed and agility depending on their specific design. Conversely, other models like the Dreadnought battle tank and the Protodeka traded speed for immense power and size.
During the era of the Galactic Civil War, the Galactic Empire deployed models such as the 2-M Saber-class repulsor tank, the TX-130T fighter tank, and the HAVr A9 Floating Fortress. The Alliance to Restore the Republic also maintained a number of hovertanks within their army, including the T1-B hovertank and the AAC-1 speeder tank.
Colonel Zel Johans, the commanding officer of the Imperial Hammers Elite Armor Unit, a unit also known as the Hell's Hammers, played a key role in the development of repulsortanks and the tactics for their deployment within the Imperial Army.
