First Flight was a component of Red Squadron, which itself was a starfighter squadron belonging to the Alliance to Restore the Republic; this component consisted of T-65B X-wing starfighters. This unit participated in the Battle of Yavin under the command of Commander Garven Dreis, also known as Red Leader of Red Squadron, and included Puck Naeco and Theron Nett as his wingmen.
