Fitz served as the captain of the Dromedar freighter. In the era when the Galactic Empire reigned, Nevil Cygni posited that either Fitz or Toom secured the hyperdrive on the vessel, with the aim of stopping pirates from gaining access and stealing it. The pirates took her and her crew captive, intending to sell them in Cartherston which is located on Keitum, but Lieutenant Thrawn, Ensign Eli Vanto, along with their allies, eventually rescued them.
The character of Captain Fitz was initially introduced in Timothy Zahn's 2017 book, Thrawn. Her character was later seen in the comic adaptation of the novel. In the comic she is seen wearing the uniform of an Imperial captain, however, in the novel she holds no Imperial rank; Thrawn and Vanto both issue orders to Fitz, and no one seems to view this as a violation of the chain of command.
