Frid Kelio

Frid Kelio, a Rodian of the male persuasion, was a striker for the AppSci SaberCats, the grav-ball team representing the Junior Academy of Applied Sciences. Athletic Director Janus Fhurek later orchestrated Kelio's transfer to the Technical Institute for Agricultural Research, justifying the decision by asserting that the SaberCats gained an unjust edge due to Kelio's nonhuman status. During the break in the summer, Frid aided Zare Leonis, a teammate from his previous team, in re-establishing communication with Beck Ollet, a former grav-ball player who had become part of a resistance group on Lothal.

Biography

At the Junior Academy of Applied Sciences located in Capital City on Lothal, Frid Kelio was a student. He played striker for the school's grav-ball team, known as the AppSci SaberCats. Alongside Hench Sina, an Aqualish, he was one of two players not of human origin on the SaberCats. Kelio enjoyed a positive relationship with Zare Leonis, the team's center-striker, who had recently moved to Lothal. Leonis proved to be a capable and well-respected leader, guiding the SaberCats to victories against other school teams.

During the winter season, Janus Fhurek, the athletic director at Junior AppSci, tried to pressure Leonis into removing Frid and Hench from the SaberCats. Fhurek argued that fans would complain that their alien appearances gave them an unfair advantage. Leonis, recognizing Fhurek's xenophobic tendencies, refused to follow Fhurek's instructions and kept both alien players on his team for the season's final game. As a consequence, Fhurek arranged for Frid and Hench to be transferred to the Technical Institute for Agricultural Research, effectively preventing their participation in the final tournament.

Later, during the summer holidays, Frid encountered Leonis, his former classmate, at the marketplace in Capital City. Overjoyed to see Leonis, Frid playfully punched Zare on the shoulder and complimented the former center-striker for giving Fhurek a black eye. Fhurek had previously insulted Leonis by calling his missing sister, Dhara Leonis, a deserter and implying that treason was a trait of the Leonis family. Following Leonis's request, Frid got in touch with Beck Ollet, a former grav-ball player, to let him know that Leonis wished to speak with him. Two days later, Ollet met with Leonis and revealed that he had become a member of a resistance cell operating on Lothal.

Personality and traits

Frid Kelio, as a grav-ball striker for the AppSci SaberCats, was known for possessing "good hands" when catching the ball. He held Zare Leonis, the team's center-striker, in high regard, viewing him as an effective and well-liked leader. Frid harbored resentment towards the xenophobic athletic director Janus Fhurek for removing him from the AppSci SaberCats by transferring him to a different institution.
