The Leonis family, alternatively referred to as the Leonises, was a human lineage that originated from the Core Worlds located within the galaxy. During the Imperial Era, the family unit comprised Leo Leonis, his spouse Tepha Leonis, their daughter Dhara Leonis, as well as their son Zare Leonis. Additionally, a nanny droid by the designation of Auntie Nags provided service to the family. While Leo was renowned as a dedicated supporter of the Empire, his family demonstrated a more subdued level of allegiance to the Galactic Empire. Subsequently, the family entered a state of concealment after Zare, in conjunction with the Spectres, liberated Dhara from Imperial captivity.
In the year 3272, according to the LY calendar system, the Leonis family relocated to Capital City situated on Lothal, a planet within the Outer Rim Territories. Leo and [Tepha](/article/tepha_leonis] were employed by the Imperial Ministry of Agriculture as agricultural scientists, while their children were enrolled in Lothal's educational institutions. Dhara became a cadet at the Academy for Young Imperials, and Zare pursued studies at the Junior Academy of Applied Sciences, where he excelled as the center striker for the school's grav-ball team, known as the AppSci SaberCats. Later in that year, Dhara went missing during a training exercise and was officially declared as missing. While Leo maintained unwavering confidence in the Empire, his wife Tepha and son Zare harbored doubts regarding the official Imperial explanation.
In the following year, Zare enlisted in the Imperial Academy with the intention of uncovering the truth surrounding his sister's disappearance. Aided by his girlfriend Merei Spanjaf and the rebel Dev Morgan, Zare discovered that the Empire had abducted Dhara and forcefully integrated her into Project Harvester. Zare progressed through his Imperial Academy training and was subsequently transferred to the [Arkanis Academy](/article/arkanis_academy]. However, his identity as a traitor was revealed before he could locate his sister, Dhara. Zare, along with the rebel group known as the Spectres, facilitated the evacuation of the remaining Leonis family members and Auntie Nags into hiding and subsequently rescued Zare and Dhara from Arkanis.
Following their evacuation to Garel, the Leonis family dedicated their efforts to liberating Garel from Imperial control.
