Fuzzball was a diminutive creature with orange fur, a member of a species of the same name known for their furry bodies and fluttering movements. During the time of the New Republic Era, Fuzzball, along with others of his kind, was captured by pirates and held captive in cages at a pet emporium situated in the shadowport of Borgo Prime. In approximately 9 ABY of the standard year, a group of children from the planet At Attin became disoriented and lost on Borgo. While trying to find their way back home, one of the children, KB, crossed paths with Fuzzball and shared a brief, friendly interaction. Later, during a conflict with a pirate crew, SM-33, KB's droid companion, hurled a Warthog attacker into the pet shop, resulting in the cages being broken open and the liberation of Fuzzball and his fellow creatures.
The character Fuzzball made his initial appearance in Star Wars canon with the debut of "Way, Way Out Past the Barrier," the second episode of the Disney+ television show Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, which premiered in 2024. Before this, the character's roots can be traced back to Captain EO, a science fiction musical short film from 1986. This short film, penned by George Lucas, was once a feature attraction at Walt Disney Parks but is now defunct. In Skeleton Crew, the vocalizations for Fuzzball were performed by voice actors Shelby Young and Terri Douglas. Skywalker Sound, who had previously worked on the original Captain EO attraction, granted the actors access to archived Fuzzball recordings to inform their performances.
