During the year 43.5 ABY, Valin and Jysella Horn, who were Jedi Knights, succumbed to a Force psychosis; consequently, the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances apprehended them, encased them in carbonite, and subsequently confined them within the Detention Center. Shortly thereafter, the Jedi obtained authorization for visitation, and upon arriving, brought journalists with them. They revealed that Security Colonel Wruq Retk was holding the Horns as trophies, thereby shifting public sentiment to support the New Jedi Order's difficult situation.
Subsequently, in 44 ABY, the Order devised a raid with the intention of liberating the Horns from the confines of the Detention Center.
