Wruq Retk was a colonel within the Yaka species and served in Galactic Alliance Security. He held command over a secret Galactic Alliance Security stronghold located on Coruscant. This stronghold housed Valin Horn and Jysella Horn, two mentally unstable Jedi Knights who were suspended in carbonite. In the year 43.5 ABY, the Jedi Council obtained authorization that granted the Jedi access to the stronghold to visit the two Knights. A group of Jedi, along with the Horns' mother, Mirax Terrik Horn, and a number of reporters, gained entry to the facility. There, they discovered the two Jedi, frozen in carbonite, displayed above a sizable aquarium. Soon after their arrival, Retk appeared and tried to regain control, but Terrik Horn, enraged by his treatment of her offspring, attacked him, incapacitating the larger Yaka with a single punch.
Wruq Retk was a colonel in Galactic Alliance Security and a member of the Yaka species. In the year 43.5 ABY, he was the officer in charge of Detention Center 81, a clandestine Galactic Alliance Security blockhouse situated on the galactic capital, Coruscant. Valin Horn and Jysella Horn, Jedi Knights who had succumbed to an unfathomable mental illness, were apprehended by the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances. After being judged too dangerous for a standard penal institution, they were frozen solid in carbonite and ultimately placed in the blockhouse commanded by Retk. Retk chose to exhibit them above a large aquarium in the lobby, just outside the facility's executive offices. Shortly after the Court of Jedi Affairs was established by Natasi Daala, the Chief of State of the Galactic Alliance, the Court's leader, Arabelle Lorteli, signed a document authorizing Jedi to enter Retk's blockhouse and observe the imprisoned Knights.

A party of Jedi, including Jedi Master Saba Sebatyne, Jedi Knight Jaina Solo, and Corran Horn, the Horns' father, were accompanied by the Horns' mother, Mirax Terrik Horn, and a substantial number of press members, including Javis Tyrr. Galactic Alliance Security personnel attempted to prevent the Jedi from accessing the blockhouse, but they were unsuccessful. Retk quickly arrived, however, and insulted Sebatyne in an attempt to provoke the Jedi Master into attacking him in front of the reporters. However, Terrik Horn immediately confronted Retk, accusing him of using her children as "decorations"—an accusation he denied, claiming he only wanted to keep them where he could personally supervise their care. She then abruptly struck him, knocking Retk unconscious with a single blow. A Security commander, Xanda, began calling for Terrik Horn's arrest for assaulting Retk, but Daala arrived and took charge, declaring that Terrik Horn would not be punished.
In 44 ABY, Daala revisited the incident involving the Jedi and Retk during a morning briefing concerning the trial of Jedi Knight Tahiri Veila after Judge Lorteli was mentioned. Later that year, when members of the [Solo family](/article/solo_family-legends], along with the Jedi Knight Zekk and his betrothed, Taryn Zel, embarked on a mission to liberate Valin and Jesella Horn from Galactic Alliance captivity, Zel suspected that the organization had amplified their security measures following Jaina's and the other Jedi's embarrassment of Retk. When they later discovered that the Alliance had captured numerous Jedi, Jaina suggested that Retk, not Daala, might be responsible for the Jedi abductions.
Like most Yaka, Wruq Retk possessed large arms and a cybernetic brain augmentation that enhanced his intellect. He displayed rudeness and abrasiveness towards the Jedi and deliberately tried to goad Jedi Master Saba Sebatyne into attacking him, an action that would have typically resulted in his arm being removed by the Barabel Jedi Master, who would then use it to beat him. He also exhibited insensitivity toward the Horn family, displaying their two carbonite-imprisoned children on his wall as office decorations and finding amusement in Terrik Horn's distress. However, he underestimated Mirax Terrik Horn's grief and anger, which led to her knocking him unconscious with a single punch.
Retk wore a Galactic Alliance Security outfit that signified his rank as a colonel.
Wruq Retk made his first appearance in Troy Denning's 2009 novel, Fate of the Jedi: Abyss, which is the third book in the Fate of the Jedi series.
