Chancellor's working office
The working office of the Chancellor'_, also referred to as the _holding office, functioned as a secluded, personal space situated within the Chancellery Secretariat located on Coruscant within the Senate Building. Specifically, the holding office's location was immediately below the Grand Convocation Chamber.
History
After the establishment of the Galactic Empire, Darth Sidious, the Dark Lord of the Sith, sought refuge in his holding office. He intended to receive a report from Darth Vader concerning events on Mustafar. However, Grand Master Yoda confronted Sidious there, first using telekinesis to incapacitate the Emperor's guards, then challenging the Dark Lord to combat. Their legendary lightsaber duel escalated, moving into the Chancellor's Podium. The podium then ascended into the Senate Chamber. The confrontation concluded in the main chamber with Yoda's defeat and subsequent fall.
Following the Declaration of a New Order, Sidious relocated his base of operations to a newly constructed throne room situated within the EmPal SuRecon.
During the Yuuzhan Vong War, Nom Anor, a Yuuzhan Vong Intendant, strategically utilized the chamber to conceal his clandestine escape vessel.
Layout
A consistent feature of all Supreme Chancellor's offices, this particular chamber underwent redecoration with each new election cycle. The chamber's circular design included only one door, and its central feature was the Chancellor's Podium. Upon commencement of Senate sessions, the office's ceiling would mechanically open, allowing the Podium, carrying the Chancellor and their aides, to rise into the Senate Chamber's center. The floor was polished, with carpeting laid in select locations.
During the chancellorship of Finis Valorum, the office's ambiance was enriched with aromatic oils, and the walls were adorned with numerous paintings. The expansive floor space was populated with various furniture pieces and statues, accumulated over the tenures of previous Chancellors. Finis Valorum primarily utilized this chamber as his official workspace during his time as Supreme Chancellor before the Battle of Naboo.
After Valorum's removal and Palpatine's subsequent election, the holding office adopted a minimalist aesthetic, featuring a plain desk on the right side. A lamp, designed to resemble the Senate Building, rested on the desk, and comfortable chairs were arranged for guests. On the wall opposite the door, two towering columns stood, displaying a panoramic view of Galactic City from the building's highest point.
