The Galitan broadcast hub functioned as a broadcast center for the Alliance to Restore the Republic and at one time orbited the moon of Galitan during the time of the Galactic Civil War. Following a battle at Fostar Haven by four years, the hub was brought online so it could transmit a distress signal requesting assistance from the New Republic. This was done after General Hera Syndulla's fleet experienced an attack that forced them into the Ringali Nebula, where they were cut off by the Galactic Empire.
