Gauntlet Squadron was a starfighter group within the New Republic, operating alongside Corsair Squadron throughout the conflict known as the Bacta War. The squadron's composition included both X-wings and B-wings.
Following the departure of Rogue Squadron, who left their posts to engage in the Bacta War, the New Republic depended significantly on Gauntlet Squadron to fulfill the responsibilities previously held by the elite squadron. Subsequently, the X-wings of Gauntlet were transferred to the Allegiance during the pursuit of the Warlord Zsinj.
In the course of the Yuuzhan Vong War, Gauntlet Squadron was among the various starfighter units stationed aboard the Soothfast within the Meridian sector. While suffering substantial casualties during the Battle near Exodo II, the squadron successfully prevented the Yuuzhan Vong from retrieving the Priestess Elan.
