Several wars took place on the planet Geonosis among the Geonosian hives, spanning from millennia to hundreds of years prior to the Separatist Crisis (24 BBY–22 BBY). These hives engaged in combat, utilizing sonic weapons within the underground tunnels constructed by the Geonosian people, fighting for control of resources and to establish dominance over the other hives, vying for leadership of the major factions.
Initially, when the nearby planet Tatooine was first colonized, the Geonosians maintained a connection with the Galactic Republic. However, the Republic later abandoned Tatooine following unsuccessful settlement attempts. Consequently, the Geonosians lost their easy access to trade with wealthier planets, which forced them to concentrate on their own internal conflicts. These conflicts ultimately ceased when the Republic rediscovered Geonosis, transforming the world into a major industrial center for the production of weapons.
The first mention of the Geonosian wars appeared in the 2016 reference book titled Star Wars: Complete Locations, specifically in a segment that focused on locations featured in the 2002 prequel trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones. This segment was originally penned by Simon Beecroft and featured illustrations by Richard Chasemore and Hans Jenssen for the 2003 Star Wars Legends reference book, Inside the Worlds of Star Wars: Attack of the Clones.
