In the year 3 ABY, Gerdy had a romantic connection with a female individual residing on the planet known as Aduba-4, and he frequently violated Imperial protocols by contacting her using priority communication channels. Gerdy was stationed at Spindrift when Rebel troops, utilizing TIE fighters and employing a disguise, attacked the base. Gerdy's attempts to flee were unsuccessful, as all avenues of escape were blocked, leading him to join the remaining Imperial soldiers in surrendering to the Rebel forces.
David Michelinie penned Gerdy's appearance in Star Wars 60, with illustrations by Walter Simonson, which was published in the year 1982.
