title: Getaway

The short story "Getaway" was penned by Christie Golden and was published in 2012 within the pages of Star Wars Insider 134. Set in 44 ABY, this narrative unfolds during the honeymoon period of Jaina and Jagged Fel, subsequent to the events depicted in the Fate of the Jedi novel series.

Story Synopsis

Jaina Solo Fel and Jagged are vacationing on Sakuub for their honeymoon. However, Jaina discloses to Jag that she has an underlying reason for their visit: her desire to investigate the planet's Sky Temple of Karsol. She hopes to ascertain if it is an ancient Jedi site, and whether it might offer additional insights to aid the Jedi Order in their ultimate goal of defeating Abeloth. During their time there, they are introduced to Pharika, their Sakuubian guide. Jaina detects a troubling presence, suggesting the proximity of a Hutt criminal.

Upon reaching the Sky Temple, accompanied by Pharika, Jaina and Jag stumble upon a Jedi holocron. Instantly, Pharika betrays them, attempting to seize the holocron. With the arrival of a ship assisting her, Pharika initiates a conflict with the Fel couple. The confrontation culminates in Jag shooting Pharika in both legs, only for her supporting vessel to eliminate her to prevent any information leaks. Subsequently, the vessel aims to eliminate Jaina and Jag to secure the holocron, but another ship intervenes, obliterating the opposing vessel. The ship that aided Jaina and Jag lands, and the pilot, a Hutt, reveals himself. He explains that he assisted the Fels to repay the debt that the Hutt Empire owed to Jaina and Lando Calrissian for reluctantly upholding the Treaty of Vontor and ruling in their favor on Klatooine, despite the futility and failure of maintaining the world in further slavery. Following this revelation, the Hutt departs, and Jaina assists the injured Jag back to their hotel.
