A staff-like weapon was used by Gial Ackbar in his role as Captain of the Mon Calamari Guard throughout the Clone Wars.
This baton's design is derived from an item included with Ackbar's Return of the Jedi toy. Danny Keller, the director of "Prisoners", recounted that he used to think of the baton as a blaster when he was younger, which led to its inclusion in canon.
