Gina Carano




Gina Joy Carano, born on April 16, 1982, is an American actress and former mixed martial artist. She is notable for her portrayal of Carasynthia Dune in The Mandalorian, a television series on Disney+ that debuted in 2019. Additionally, she played the mutant villain Angel Dust in the 2016 film Deadpool, Riley Hicks in the 2013 movie Fast & Furious 6, and had the lead role in the 2011 action thriller Haywire.

Biography

Star Wars Involvement

Across two seasons of The Mandalorian, Carano took on the role of Dune. During Star Wars Celebration Chicago, she participated in The Mandalorian Panel, where she introduced her character, Cara Dune, a former Rebel Alliance Shock trooper. Her first appearance as Dune was in "Chapter 4: Sanctuary," which showed Dune's meeting with Din Djarin while she was hiding on Sorgan. Her final appearance as Dune was in the second season's concluding episode, "Chapter 16: The Rescue."

Lucasfilm Employment

On February 10, 2021, Lucasfilm released a statement through various media outlets concerning Carano's employment status with the company. The statement, in addition to condemning Carano's recent activity on social media, indicated that Carano was not currently employed by them, nor were there any future plans to employ her. On February 6, 2024, Carano initiated legal action against The Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilm, alleging discrimination and unjust dismissal.
